Philanthropic Partners of
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Service and giving is highly valued in Alpha Sigma Alpha on both a national and local level. This belief is demonstrated in the many ways Alpha Sigma Alpha women express their care and concern for others through the support of the sorority’s philanthropic endeavors. Members are expected to give at least 25 hours a year towards various philanthropic endeavors, be in with one of our national partners or through local community efforts like blood drives, Moravian College Heritage Day, participation in Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, College's Against Cancer Relay for Life, and other personal causes.
Special Olympics
Alpha Sigma Alpha adopted Special Olympics as a philanthropic partner in 1976. Each year, the Special Olympics touches lives in hundreds of communities across the nation and around the world, and each year Alpha Sigma Alpha members make a difference to this important organization.
We volunteer for Special Olympics in the following ways:
-
Participate in the Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign
-
Participate in a local Polar Plunge or other Special Olympic fundraising initiatives
-
Serve as buddies, huggers or coaches for Special Olympic event

Girls on the Run
In 2012 Girls on the Run (GOTR) and Alpha Sigma Alpha established an official partnership. Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. The program teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games.
Our sister, Cortney, volunteered with GOTR in Spring 2017
Other volunteer efforts
Alpha Sigma Alpha participated in Heritage Day, where all Moravian students participate in a day of service!
Our sisters often make cards and/or Mo Paws for encouragement! Most recently our sisters made them for faculty and staff, along with people participating in Special Olympics!
